As the late President Julius K. Nyerere once stated, “National service is the demand made by the nation on youth and the youth’s response in fulfilling their duty in building the nation.” The National Service was established on July 10, 1963. Six students will be chosen to join JKT 2022.
The names of Form Six students chosen for JKT training in various JKT camps are all that are included in the JKT National Service selection list. After a random selection exercise, the National Service typically publishes six JKT selection lists.

The National Service was established by the National Service Act in order to unite Tanzanian youth in pursuit of the following objectives:
- Work together in order to build a sense of nationalism.
- Develop cultural and sociological awareness.
- Provide skills, build economic independence, and reduce unemployment.
- Train and develop the youth for national service and assist the government during natural disasters and calamities.
- Build and develop the national economy.
- Provide military training for national defence.
OBJECTIVES (Objectives)
- Youth Advancement Young people are taught to love one another regardless of ideological, religious, ethnic, or economic differences. Respect handicrafts. Appreciating and fostering traditions, and customs, and preserving the nation’s culture. Be confident, devoted, patriotic, and confident citizens.
- National Defence To provide young people with military skills as a reserve army, and to prepare them to join other Defence and Security organisations. To prepare youth to assist in a variety of disasters, including floods, fires, and accidents.
- Production Assets In order to make young Tanzanians avoid the hassle that office work is the only and best way to survive,
JKT is responsible for wealth creation with the objective of enabling young people to become self-employed in a variety of industries immediately after signing a contract with JKT. JKT produces the following assets: – constructing and renovating structures in Industry and Agriculture Minerals and Energy Tourism Security Services for Private Security Stores (SuperMarket) Linking automobiles to equipment Educational services
